Survey: AI guidelines at German universities
31.10.23Several universities have published guidelines in recent months that regulate the use of generative AI tools such as ChatGPT. The development of such guidelines is in full swing at many other universities. Hochschulforum Digitalisierung is now collecting AI guidelines in order to analyze them and support developments at universities.
Guidelines are instruments to give university members orientation in dealing with AI tools. In doing so, you are setting an important course. Aspects such as maintaining academic integrity, the ethically and morally responsible use of AI and the identification of application limits can play a role here. Not all university guidelines set the same priorities or are based on the same premises. The names also vary – there is talk of guidelines, directives, policies or handouts, among others. A systematic overview is still lacking.
The HFD supports universities in their deliberations on artificial intelligence in university teaching. We would therefore like to survey the current status of AI guidelines. On this basis, we would like to better assess the needs in dealing with generative AI and support the (further) development of corresponding guidelines.
You are cordially invited to take part in the survey and share your guidelines with the HFD. The query also offers the option of sharing an interim status if no guideline has yet been published.
The HFD carries out this query for internal purposes only through. Guidelines are not mentioned by name, for example in publications based on the collection, without the prior consent of those responsible.
